Claudette Mae Miller, 68, of Spearfish, SD, died Wednesday, May 27, 2009 at Belle Fourche Regional Senior Care.

Visitation will be from 3:00p.m. until 7:00p.m. on Friday, May 29, 2009 at Fidler-Isburg Funeral Chapel in Spearfish.

Graveside services will be at 10:30a.m. on Saturday, May 30, 2009 at Rose Hill Cemetery in Spearfish, with Chaplain Charley Conger officiating.

Claudette was born June 28, 1940 on the family ranch outside of Spearfish and raised near Aladdin, WY. She attended country school near Aladdin and high school at Sundance, WY, graduating in 1958 from Sundance High School. She attended college at Dakota Wesleyan in Mitchell, SD, and then went to Colorado State College in Greeley, CO, earning a Bachelors degree. She taught schools at Clinton, IA, Sundance, WY, and Alamogordo, NM. After teaching she lived in Gillette and then Spearfish, working as a bookkeeper.

Claudette loved art and was a beautiful artist, an avid reader and book collector. Her family, nieces and nephews and grand nieces and nephews were the light of her life.

Claudette is survived by her mother, Flora (Buryl) Walters of Spearfish, brothers, Bob (Corinne) Miller of Sundance, WY, and Ted (Pearl) Miller of Spearfish, nieces and nephews; Monte (Tanja) Miller and their children, Echo and Ben of Sundance, Jodie Mitchell and her children Caden and Justine of Spearfish, Charity (Cash) Baptista and their children, Seth and Wyatt of Ft. Meade, SD, and Becky (Billy) Hansen and their child Riley of Rapid City, SD. She is also survived by two step-daughters, Bobbi and Tanya, and special friends, Steph and Sean Badwound and their children, Brady, Bailey and Sydney.

Claudette was preceded in death by Flossie and Claude Miller, her father, Ben Miller and a nephew, Travis Miller.
