Claude Keyworth, 70 Sundance, Wyoming passed away unexpectedly on Friday August 22, 2014.
Claude was born on September 25, 1943 in Sanford, Michigan to Wayne and Rose (Barton) Keyworth. Claude was the 4th child of 5 children.
Claude enlisted in the Air Force and that is where he met the love of his life, Barbara Ann Hunt. They met in Grand Forks, ND and on July 11, 1962 they were married. After leaving the military, Claude moved to Sundance in 1976 where he resided until his death. To their union four children were born; Cathy Keyworth, Claude "Jim" Keyworth, Jr., Christopher Keyworth and Tina Keyworth-Blakeman.
Claude was very fun to be around. He made many life-long friendships over the years. He spent the last 41 years in Sundance and over those years he worked at many businesses, including RC Oil Company and then ending his mechanic career and truck driving career with Energy Electric Company. Claude loved working on small engines and over the years he made many friends and many ranchers as well as locals would call on him for advice or have him work on their equipment. Claude was always there to lend a helping hand to those in need and tried to help out whenever possible.
Claude was an avid fisherman and loved to take friends and family out on his fishing boat. Every summer Claude would travel back to Michigan to see his siblings. Claude also had a special friend, Carol Guthrie who shared his life with him for 9 years before she passed away August 23, 2012. In 2013, he was introduced to Betty Karn while in Michigan visiting his family.
His deepest, and greatest, pride and joy were his four children and the many grandchildren and great- grandchildren.
Left to grieve in his absence in their lives, but so grateful for having share his life are his children; Cathy Keyworth of Pryor, OK, Claude "Jim" Keyworth Jr. of Rapid City, Sherry Keyworth-Burr of Spearfish, Chris Keyworth of Rapid City and Tina (Jeff) Blakeman of Belle Fourche. Also, surviving are his sisters; Nora Cooper of Beaverton, MI, Vera (Ned) Kaufman of Midland, MI, MaryLou Pollen of Carrollton, MI and brother, Floyd (Linda) Evans of Allegan, MI, nine grandchildren; Teryn Lance of Rapid City, Brittany (Chad) Baker of Lead, Crystal Pierson of Las Vegas, NV, Darci Pierson of Pryor, OK, Scott Keyworth of Sundance, Trevor Keyworth of Sundance, Tosha Brolyer of Moorcroft, Russell Blakeman of Belle Fourche and Shi-Anne Blakeman of Belle Fourche and Taylor Keyworth-Lindstrum, of Rapid City and three great-grandchildren; Noah Baker and Mavrik Baker of Lead, and Camy Larson of Moorcroft and soon to be great-grandson, Wyatt Brolyer of Moorcroft.
Claude was preceded in death by wife Barbara in 2002, friend Carol Guthrie in 2012 and his parents.
Memorial Services for Claude will be at 2:00pm, Thursday August 28, 2014 at Old High School Gymnasium with a reception to follow in the Court House Basement, Sundance, WY. At Claude's wishes, he will be cremated.
