Obituary

Clara Carolyn "Carol" Potterville, 79 of Spearfish, passed away on October 4, 2019 at the Sturgis Regional Hospital.

She was born to Eugene and Mary Greenleaf on August 10, 1940, in Peoria, Illinois the second of five children. Carol graduated from Woodruff High School in Peoria and Illinois State University in Normal, Illinois. She then earned her master's degree in Special Education from the University of Alaska, Anchorage. She was a Special Ed Teacher in Illinois, California, Oregon and Alaska. Upon graduation in Illinois, she married George Fell. After his untimely death in an airplane accident in Alaska, she gave birth to their son, John.

Several years later she met and married Wilson "Butch" Potterville in Wasilla, Alaska. In 1974 they moved to Glennallen, Alaska, where she was a Special Ed teacher. They moved to Spearfish, SD in 2005, where she enjoyed quilting, playing piano, art nature and beautiful friendships.

Carol is survived by her husband, Wilson; son, John; grandchildren, Jade and Dawson Fell of Colorado; he brothers, Bill and Dan Greenleaf and sister, Mary Palmer, all of Illinois. She was preceded in death by her parents; first husband, George and her brother, Arie.

A Celebration of Carol's life is planned for November 3, 2019 at 1:00 PM at the High Plains Western Heritage Center in Spearfish, SD.
