Christopher Huber, 36 of Lead, left this world far too young on Monday, November 4, 2013 at Orman Dam.
Chris was born on a Sunday, May 22, 1977 in Deadwood, S.D., to Bruce and Rhonda (Harlan) Huber. Chris graduated from Lead High School in 1995 and served two years in the U.S. Army. He returned to the Black Hills, which he loved so much, and worked at Deer Mountain Ski Resort. He moved on to working as a fire suppression officer for the State of South Dakota and fighting wild land forest fires, a job he thoroughly enjoyed.
As Chris started a family, he changed his occupation from fighting fires to working at the Sanford Lab in Lead so he could spend more time with his family. Family was very important to Chris and he was very proud of his children. He loved nothing more than having family gatherings and group get togethers. He grew up with many cousins whom he considered close friends. He was always quick with a smile and had an unforgettable twinkle in his beautiful blue eyes.
He was a proud volunteer for the Lead Fire Department and a member of the Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran Church.
Chris is survived by his son, Tyler; daughters, Delilah and Vivian; parents, Bruce and Rhonda Huber; sister Meredith (Joe) Hanington of Elko, NV; brother, Josh (Erin) Huber of Salt Lake City, Utah; grandparents, Jean Harlan, Sturgis; Elroy and Lois Huber, Emery, SD; Uncle Steve (Linda) Harlan, Aunt Connie (Benny) Lara, Uncle Randy (Barb) Harlan, Aunt Grace Shannon, Aunt Vicki Aberle, Aunt Jeanie Crotty (Greg Woolridge), Aunt Roni (Bret) Aman, Uncle Greg (Stephanie) Harlan, Aunt Linda (Doug) Rowley, very close and special friends James and Robyn Kyte and family; his many cousins and good friends. He was preceded in death by his grandfather, Ron Harlan and cousin, Brandon Lara.
Memorials will be placed in a trust fund for his children. If you wish to donate, please make checks payable to Bruce or Rhonda Huber. Condolences may be sent to Rhonda and Bruce Huber, 3755 Hawkeye St., Salt Lake City, UT 84120.
