Charles "Chuck" William Ramsey passed away at his home in Spearfish, SD surrounded by his loving family Tuesday, March 1, 2011.
Memorial Services will be at 10:30 A.M. on Friday, March 4, 2011 at Countryside Community Church, 625 Woodland Drive, in Spearfish with Pastor Bob Totino officiating. Burial will be at 2:30 P.M. at Black Hills National Cemetery near Sturgis. A memorial has been established to Hospice of the Northern Hills.
Chuck was born October 21, 1927 to Claude and Hilda (Sether) Ramsey at Philip, SD. He attended Jones country school and graduated from Philip High School in 1945. He served in the Army during the Korean Conflict, after being honorably discharged he returned to Philip to ranch until 1971 when he moved the family to Wall, SD. He and Bea purchased the Sportsman's Liquor which they operated. until moving the business to the Wall Grocery, that they owned and operated until 1981 when they retired to Spearfish. He worked various ventures including being a cashier at Deadwood. His greatest joy was his children, grandchildren and especially great-grandchildren.
He is survived by his loving wife, Beatrice of Spearfish; six daughters, Claudette (Dick) Raczuk, Lake Havasu, AZ, Charlene (Clayton) Kjerstad, Wall, Cindy (Steven) Severson, Vernal, UT, Cleo (Peter) Rowe, Spearfish, Candee (John) Kitterman, Wall, Cathy Johnson, Rapid City, SD; 3 sons, Claude (Isabel) Ramsey, Spearfish, Casey Ramsey, Blair, NE, Clay Ramsey, Rapid City. His sister, Hazel Thompson and brother Cliff (Rita) Ramsey, all of Philip, sister-in-laws, Berdyne Parsons, Philip and Virginia Barnes, Trenton, MI; 29 Grandchildren: Heidi Porreca, Michael Raczuk, Kristen Raczuk, Rachel Buhmann, Brennan Kjerstad, Jordon Kjerstad, Conrad Kjerstad, Muriel Kjerstad, Andrea Severson, Dorcie Johner, Natasha Rowe, Michael Rowe, Dylan Rowe, Aaron Kitterman, Ashley Kitterman, Katie Ramsey, Dexter Ramsey, Jon Ramsey, Adam Szymanski, Eric Ramsey, Andrew Ramsey, Joshua Ramsey, Tyrel Soukup, Doss Ramsey, Meryl Ramsey, Landon Marowelli, Rena Bartol, Kelli Ramsey, Jaime Johnson; 19 great grandchildren: Natasha, Tianna, Dylan, Bryce, Bria, Breckin, Austan, Lexi, Kyler, Karmyn, Michaela, Bradan, Kenya, Rayce, Corbin, RaeLynn, Jarron, Ivy, Zayne. Chuck is preceded in death by his parents, two grandsons Allen Kjerstad and Christopher Rowe; and brother-in-law Charles "Tommy" Thompson.
