Charles DeMinck, 81, Spearfish, SD died Sunday, March 08, 2015 at Close to Home Hospice House in Gillette, WY.
Charles was born on May 25, 1933 in Aberdeen, SD to William and Mollie (Sporer) DeMinck. He was raised in Ipswich, SD and attended Catholic school there. Ipswich is where he met the love of his life, Shirley Oban and they were married on September 23, 1954. Together they raised three children.
Charles worked for Johnson Brothers Construction Company from 1953-1985 as a finish blade operator and was considered one of the best. He was involved in building many roads, railroads and mine sites around the states of SD and WY.
He helped build the mine site at North Antelope Rochelle Coal and then went to work for them from 1985 until his retirement in 1998.
He then returned to his beloved home in Spearfish with his wife, Shirley to spend time with family. He enjoyed going to and watching NASCAR and stock car races.
Charles is survived by his three children, daughter, Dixie (Mitch) Skogen of Gillette; sons, Richard (Taina) of Douglas and Alan (Jacque) of Gillette; nine grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife Shirley; two sisters; a granddaughter; a great-granddaughter and a great-grandson.
Visitation will be from 6-7 PM on Thursday, March 12, 2015 at St Joseph Catholic Church in Spearfish with the Vigil following at 7PM. Mass of Christian burial will be at 10:00 AM on Friday, March 13, 2015 at the church. Burial will follow at Rose Hill Cemetery in Spearfish.
