Celina Alice Clauser, 98, passed away on Monday, October 04, 2010, at Tender Care Assisted Living in Spearfish, SD.
Visitation will be from 5-7 P.M. on Wednesday, October 6th, 2010 at Fidler-Isburg Funeral Chapel in Spearfish. Vigil services will be held at 7:00 P.M., at the funeral chapel with Deacon Tom Freece officiating. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:00 A.M., Thursday, October 7, 2010 at St. Joseph Catholic Church with Father Tim Hoag as Celebrant. Burial will follow at Rose Hill Cemetery. In lieu of flowers a memorial has been established to the American Cancer Society.
Celina was born in Spearfish on November 5, 1911 to William and Katherine (Stefani) McGuigan. She graduated from Spearfish High School in 1930 and went into nurses training at St. Joseph's Hospital in Deadwood and graduated as a Registed Nurse in 1933. She worked as an R.N. at St. Jospeh's Hospital in Deadwood and Homestake Hospital in Lead, and later on at Northern Hills Hospital in Deadwood. She married John Clauser on August 11, 1933 at Bear Butte Valley Church near Sturgis. Together they made their home in Trojan for 10 years, Custer for 1 year, Lead for 33 years and moving back to Spearfish in 1977.
She was a member of St. Joseph's Altar Society, Spearfish Senior Citizens Center, and St. Joseph's Hospital Alumni.
Celina is survived by her four daughters, Maxine Fox of Vicksburg, MS, Carol Deaton, of Baton Rouge, LA, Nancy (Jim) Phillips, of Deadwood, Marilyn Current, of Spearfish; two sons, William (Sylvia) Clauser, of Rapid City and John (Gloria) Clauser of Spearfish; 13 grandchildren, 17 8/9th great-grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren.
Celina was preceded in death by her parents, husband John, 3 sisters and 5 brothers.
