Catherine "Kay" Ann Lauer, 59 from Deadwood, SD passed away on Wednesday, November 16, 2022.

Kay was born to Francis and Joanne Lauer on June 3, 1963.  She grew up at 21 Taylor Street in Deadwood going to Deadwood Elementary and Lead High School.  As a child growing up her interests and loves involved time under car hoods, wielding hammers, and all things with her dad and mom.  This carried into adulthood where Kay held a variety of construction jobs becoming a jack of all trades, master of none.  One of Kay's greatest joys was on October 9, 1987, when her son was born.

Kay had one child but adopted in her heart all of her nieces and nephews.  They treated her as a second parent, confidant and friend.  This didn't just include family, but the whole town.  No matter the situation, personality or cost, if somebody needed help, Kay was there.  She not only helped, but would give you, her shirt, food, and a place to stay.

Kay is survived by her widow, Pam Goodwin; son Robert Francis Lauer; grandchildren Gabe and IvyAnna; sisters Joanne "Jo Marie" (Michael) Lewis of Spearfish, Diann Lauer, Ellen Sandidge, Mary (Matt) Fortier-Lauer and brother John Lauer all of Deadwood; five nieces; four nephews; six great-nieces; seven great-nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents and a nephew.

Cremation has taken place, and a celebration of Kay's life will take place and will be announced at a later date.
