Obituary

Carol Lynn Wrightson, of Newcastle,WY passed away Sept. 30, 2010 after a long courageous battle with diabetes complications. She was surrounded by the love of her family and friends as she made her journey to her eternal home.

Carol, known as Lucky to her siblings, was born on Friday, May 13,1938 in Riverton, WY. She was the first child born to the union of Ivan and Carol Metzler. Lucky was the oldest of two brothers and two sisters, and she let them know it. She was a tiny gal with flowing black hair, which bobbed as she practiced her tap dancing, pirouettes on her ballet toe shoes or tickling the ivories on a piano. She began her schooling in Riverton, later moving to Newcastle, where she would graduate from High School with the class of 1956. She so loved attending the All School Reunion held this past summer. Upon graduation lucky went on to college at Chadron State University, graduating with majors in English and Art in 1960. Prior to graduation, she met and married her life long companion, Ralph J. Wrightson. They were united in marriage on Sept 5, 1959 in Chadron, NE, celebrating their 50th anniversary before Ralph's passing a year ago.

Carol was a soft-spoken, reserved lady, but worked very hard at her jobs and the organizations she was committed to. I imagine her first job was to care for her siblings while her folks worked. As a young girl she spent endless hours designing fashions to go with the beautiful hand painted paper dolls she made or designing and sewing clothes to fit every ones dolls. Her artwork was later printed in the 1956 Dogie School Album, artwork being her passion. She taught English in Portland and Boise. The young family returned to Newcastle where she went on to teach Creative Writing through the Community Adult Ed program. Mentoring scores of young writers to follow their dreams of becoming authors. Carol had had some of her work
published in magazines. Amongst her hobbies were reading, creative writing and genealogy. You rarely seen her without a book in hand. This passion led her to being the first children's librian at the Newcastle Public Library.

Carol worked for the Newcastle Police Dept as a dispatcher for sixteen years, along with being a Probation officer for the system. Carol honed her artistic talents to become a Forensic Facial Reconstruction Artist, teaching various seminars throughout WY. In her spare time she had several callings that were dear to her heart. She became a Lay Reader at the Christ Church Episcopal, a 4-H leader for thirty-five years, Girl Scout leader for numerous years and a mentor to all children who came in contact with her. Through this contact she taught them sewing, canning, painting and drawing, leather
crafts, and was quick to correct their usage of proper English.

Carol has been welcomed home by her husband Ralph J. Wrightson, her parents Ivan & Carol Metzler, grandparents Fred and Alyse Metzler. Those who survive to carry on her love and memories are daughters Marie (Craig) Corley of Douglas, WY Stephanie (David) Kline of Newcastle; grandchildren Jason (Christine) Kline of Worland, WY Corey Kline of Laramie, WY Stacie (Aaron) Thompson of Levenworth, WA, Joe (Cindy) Corley of Newcastle, Serenity Corley of Newcastle; brothers Butch Metzler of Blythe, CA, and Ken (Anne) Metzler of Riverton; sisters Peggy Metzler of Douglas and Mickie Dobson of Noxon, MT. Cloe, her furry companion misses her along with numerous cousins, nephews, nieces and
friends. I encourage you to kick back with a cup of tea and read a book in Lucky's honor.
