Carol Ann Lundberg passed away August 18, 2025. She was born November 24, 1935, in Lily, South Dakota to Henry and Nellie Lundberg. She had two brothers, Leo and Stan. In 1958, she moved by herself to Long Beach, California, to have better opportunities and make a better life. She stayed at the YMCA. Her first job was at a dental office, and she had $33 to her name. She worked hard and later was transferred to a corporate office in LA. She worked her way up the corporate ladder. She was recruited to another company and worked in the insurance end. She often shared stories about how she hired employees from the Midwest because she knew the work ethic of Midwesterners.

She joined the Sierra Club and traveled the world through that affiliation. She visited Asia, Africa, the States, Latin American and Europe. She brought many souvenirs home to remember her experiences. She spent 46 years in California and moved to Spearfish, SD, and lived here for 21 years. She immediately became involved in the Wildlife Sanctuary. She LOVED all the animals, and she worked hauling feed to them. She always had a cat or two and always fed the deer in her yard.  Her Midwest work ethic was in her DNA.

Carol is a recognized donor for Black Hills State University students. For many years she supported students with an academic scholarship who had at least a B average and a good "work ethic". The students needed to be from South Dakota and majoring in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics). She took a personal interest in "her" students.

Carol had so many friends. She looked forward to Thursday coffee at Common Grounds with the Ageless Group. Her group of friends were very diverse. You might see her at the wine bar enjoying a little nip now and then. Morning tea with Alyce was part of her routine. Carol will be greatly missed.

She is survived by nephews, Terry, Lee, and Greg Lundberg and families, nieces, Patty, Rhonda and Lori and families.  She is preceded in death by her parents, Henry and Nellie, and brothers, Leo and Stan and niece Renee.
