Carol Ruth Christofferson, 75, beloved wife, mother and grandmother, passed away March 20, 2008 at her home in Spearfish after a prolonged illness.

Visitation will be from 2:00pm to 7:00pm Monday, March 24, 2008 at Fidler-Isburg Funeral Chapel in Spearfish.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00pm Tuesday, March 25, 2008 at the United Methodist Church in Spearfish, with the Reverend Kelly Lovelace officiating. Burial will follow at Rose Hill Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, gifts in Carol's memory may be made to Hospice of the Northern Hills.

She was born Carol Borud to parents Lloyd and Bessie (Randall) Borud on May 15, 1932 on her grandfather's farm in Chewelah, WA. In 1941 Carol, her mother, and
siblings, Tana and Lloyd moved to Lead, SD, where she graduated from Lead High School in 1950. Carol worked as a telephone operator and at Kate Callahan's
Jewelry Store in Lead until after she wed Robert Christofferson of Spearfish in 1953. Together they had four children, Debra, Jane, Bob and Steve.

Carol was a member of Alpha Delta Kappa, an academic honor society at Black Hills State University. She graduated in 1969 with a Bachelor of Science degree in education. She began a 27-year career as an educator teaching kindergarten in Belle Fourche, SD.

Carol was an active member of the Spearfish Foursquare Church and taught kindergarten Sunday school there for 25 years before becoming a member of the Church of the Nazarene.

Carol enjoyed traveling. She traveled to California to see her sister, brother and daughter Debra on many occasions. She also traveled to Washington, Wisconsin and Canada to see family and friends and research her family tree.

Carol was preceded in death by her father, her mother, step-father Roy Meyer, sister Tana (Bob) Mattson, brother Lloyd (Betty) Borud, and sons Bob and Steve Christofferson.

Carol is survived by her devoted husband, Bob and daughter, Jane of Spearfish, and
daughter, Debra of Los Angeles, CA; daughters-in-law, Kristi Christofferson and Aleen Christofferson, and grandchildren; Beth, Carson and Katie Christofferson of Spearfish, niece, Tana Borud (Tom Stastny) and family of Trail, BC, Canada; and half-brother, Lyle Borud of Oregon.
