Obituary

Bonnie Jean Northey, 87, of Lead, SD passed away on July 7, 2016 at her son's home in Lincoln NE.

Bonnie was born on September 22, 1928 in Elgin, ND to Jacob and Hazel (Paris) Strohmaier. The family moved to Huron where she graduated from Huron High School and later from Huron College with her Teaching Degree. She married Clarence "Klunk" Northey on April, 5, 1953 after a nine year engagement, and became a full time military wife and mother to wherever Klunk's career took them.

Bonnie was an avid swimmer, teaching WSI at the YMCA in Rapid City and Deadwood for many years, and also participating in the Senior Olympics. She was truly a remarkable loving and caring wife, mother, teacher and friend.

Bonnie is survived by her sons, David (Kim) Northey, Lincoln, NE and Daniel Northey, Lead; grandsons, David "DJ" Northey, Jr. and Zachary Northey, both of Lincoln; and sister, Georgia Luby of Phoenix, AZ.

Visitation for Bonnie will be from 1-2 PM, on Wednesday, July 13, 2016 at the Lead-Deadwood Memorial Chapel in Lead. Graveside Services will follow at 3 PM, at Black Hills National Cemetery near Sturgis. In lieu of flowers a memorial has been established to benefit the Autumn House Foundation, 1609 N Street, Lincoln, NE 68508.
