Billy Bert Durfee, 92 of Sundance, Wyoming passed away at the Crook County Memorial Hospital on December 11, 2013.
Bill was born May 26, 1921 to Joseph Charles and Nina Belle (Warren) Durfee. He was born on his Grandparent Warren's ranch south of Upton, Wyoming and had one older brother, Jay. Bill graduated from Upton High School in 1939 and enlisted in the U.S. Navy in 1940. He served 6 years, receiving his honorable discharge in 1946.
Bill married Loretta Dale O'Haver on April 24, 1948. Bill worked at the Spearfish Airport where he learned to fly and the Wyoming Highway Department in Sundance. Bill began his power company career in Sheridan, later moving to Provo, Utah and finally returning to Sundance to become the Manager of Operations for Tri-County (Powder River Energy) and retiring September 1981.
He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Loretta; sister-in-law, Hazel Durfee, Florida; nephews, Clark Durfee, Arizona and Wayne O'Haver, Texas; and nieces, Dorothy Kaiser, Belle Fourche, SD, Janette (Dave) Heidtke, Reedsburg, WI and Kathy (Tom) Gearhart, Sundance, WY. He is preceded him in death are his parents and brother.
In keeping with Bill's wishes, no services will be held and inurnment will be in the Durfee family plot in Sheridan, Wyoming at a later date.
