Betty was born on May 10, 1932 in Milford Township, New Ulm, MN to Edward and Elsie (Sperl) Manderfeld. She attended school in New Ulm. In November of 1949 she married Edward Christman. They moved to the Redfield, SD area and then to the Black Hills in 1956. She worked at the Metzger Bakery in Lead as the head cake baker. Betty moved back to the Redfield area where she worked for the South Dakota State School as a cook until her retirement. She moved back to the Black Hills, living in Vale, SD and then spent her remaining years at Edgewood Vista in Spearfish. She enjoyed cooking, fishing and her family. She enjoyed the times and love of her two sisters Alice and Madeline Rewitzer and her brother Ed "Jr." Manderfeld.

Betty is also survived by 7 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren, 1 great-great grandchild and her special cat, Elmo. She was preceded in death by her parents, son Tom and a grandchild.

We will miss her immensely especially her "spirited" attitude.
