Betty was Born in Newell South Dakota, April 9, 1934, to Jacob and Katie (Hinkel) Jordan. She grew up there in the Newell and Nisland area, attending school there and working on various farms with her family, growing sugar beets, corn and cattle. In 1950 she moved to Belle Fouche, where she took a job working at Belle Telephone as a telephone operator. In 1951 she married Richard Vincent Justice. To this union she was blessed with 2 sons, Richard & Robert.

After her first husband passed in 1970, she worked at John Burns Memorial Hospital. In 1972 she married Pat Halstead, who had three grown daughters, Alice, Donna, and Paula. She and Pat lived on the ranch west of Spearfish. She enjoyed ranch life and all that it entailed, such as hay season, calving season, lambing season, cattle drives, rodeo. She spent 51 years on the ranch and loved all the adventures ranch life offered and she especially loved being a wife, mother, grandmother and great (great) grandmother. And doing crafts, playing the piano, & working in her yard & taking care of her animals.

March 20, 2000, Pat passed away and Betty remained on the ranch property. On April 16, 2006, at Cheery Easter Service at the St Onge church, Betty married Buck E.R Brengle. They remained married until Buck passed away in June of 2013.

Betty then remained on the ranch alone until 2023, when health issues caused her to move to Highgate Assisted Living Facility in Billings MT closer to family. Betty passed away on September 1st, 2026, at the age of 92.

She is grateful for sharing her life with her two sons, Richard and wife Helen, and their 6 children (Kathy, Stephen, Chrissy (Gene), Sarah (Chris), Amy, Christa (Dave), 17 great grandchildren of Washington State. Robert and Dixie with their daughters Patti (Jay), Stanfill & Linda (Jeff) Johnson and 7 great grandchildren of Montana. As well as 3 stepdaughters Alice Sprauger, Donna Halstead and Paula Halstead of South Dakota, one stepson John Brengle of Texas, two step grandchildren Tammy (Chad) Wojtalewicz & Tanya (Todd) Johnson, and 3 step great grandchildren. Three very close and loving nieces, Diane, Sharon and Janet as well as their wonderful families.

Betty was preceded in death by her parents Jacob and Katie Jordan, brother Ervin, sister Dorothy Zorn, brother-in law John Zorn, grandchildren Kathy & Stephen Justice and three loving husbands.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00am on Wednesday, September 16, 2026, at Connection Church Belle Fourche, SD located at: 613 6th Avenue, Belle Fourche, SD with a visitation being held one hour prior to the service. Burial will follow at Pine Hills cemetery.
