IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Bertha
Anderson
May 5, 1942 – December 18, 2025
Bertha Faye (Davis) Anderson, 83 of Spearfish.
Born May 5, 1942, to Lucille (Carter) Davis and Evan Davis, Bertha passed away peacefully under the compassionate care of Heartland Hospice in Spearfish, SD, on December 18, 2025.
Bert was a light in this world—one of the kindest souls you could ever hope to meet. Her heart knew no boundaries; she welcomed and accepted everyone with open arms. Throughout her life, she devoted herself to caring for others, making sure they felt loved, valued, and at home.
Whether delivering groceries to those who couldn’t make the trip themselves or opening her door to friends and family, Bert lived a life of generosity and grace.
In 1974, fate brought Bert to meet the love of her life, Jim in Las Vegas. Together, they chose a quieter, simpler life in Spearfish, where Jim had grown up. It was there they built their home, raised their family, and created a life filled with laughter, love, and countless cherished memories. Jamey came first, then Jessie, and life was complete. They found their rhythm, embraced the beauty of everyday moments, and loved every minute of the journey.
Bert had a special connection to the Black Hills—a place she adored deeply. With Jim as her personal guide, she discovered hidden corners and breathtaking views that few ever see. The Hills were her sanctuary, and she reveled in their wonder.
Bert leaves behind a legacy of love and family. She is survived by her sons John (Maquita) Baley and Jamey (Ladonna) Anderson; her daughter Jessica (Brandon) Murray; and her beloved grandchildren Cory, Alisa, Fritz, Edward, Analyn, Dylan, Jeanisa, Isis, and Andy. She is also survived by her siblings Bonnie Manning, Carl (Jacque) Davis, Twila (Steve) Salvador, Kris Piseno, and Carl Von Koeping.
She now joins in eternal rest, her loving husband James; her parents Margaret and Evan; her stepfather Donald McPherson; her sister Donna; her brothers Evan Junior and Kenneth; brother-in-law Ralph Manning; sister-in-law Joanne Follette; and grandson Christopher Baley.
A small service will be held at Black Hills National Cemetery, where Bert will be laid to rest beside Jim—the love of her life—at their final resting place.
Bert’s life was a beautiful testament to kindness, love, and family. Her warmth will live on in the hearts of all who knew her.
Arrangements are under the care of Fidler-Isburg Funeral Chapels and Isburg Crematory of Spearfish. Online condolences may be written at www.fidler-isburgfuneralchapels.com
