Obituary

Benjamin "Ben" W Jensen, 81
Ben Jensen, 81, of Sundance, Wyoming, beloved husband and best friend of Gerry Jensen for 53 years, passed away peacefully surrounded by the ones he laughed with, lived for, and loved on February 12, 2015.
Ben was born October 8, 1933 at his Aunt Elsie Cowan's homestead. Her homestead was in Perkins County near Date, South Dakota. Grandmother Agnes Hokuf Anderson was the midwife for his birth.
The family lived on various ranches in north-east Wyoming and central South Dakota.
In April 1954 Ben was drafted into the US Army. He traveled by train to Fort Sam Houston in San Antonio, Texas for basic training. He was then stationed in Anchorage, Alaska for two years where he was an ambulance driver for the medics.
He came to Sundance in February of 1959 and in the summer began working on the road being built to the Radar Station in the Bearlodge. He married Geraldine Marie Joy at Sundance Methodist Church on June 11, 1961. In August of 1961 he began working at the Wyoming State Highway Department and retired after 31 years. Ben enjoyed traveling, hunting, his John Deere tractors and spending time with his family.
Besides his wife Gerry, Ben is survived by his three sons; Larry (Kathy) of Cheyenne, Wyoming, Bruce (Karla) of Brighton, Colorado, and David (Shanda) of Pinedale, Wyoming; his grandchildren, Telise, Tori, Tabor, Derick, Sydney and Ellie; his brother Lee (Pat); his sister Marolyn (Gary); as well as numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
He was predeceased by his parents Clifford and Dorothy Jensen and his sister Carolyn Johnson.
A memorial service will be held honoring Ben on Tuesday, February17, 2015 at 2:00 pm at Fidler-Roberts & Isburg Funeral Chapel, 208 Main Street, Sundance, Wyoming. Pastor Jim Kack will officiate. Burial will be at Mt. Moriah Cemetery following services. A reception will be at the Sundance Senior Center following burial. A Memorial will be created for the Sundance Senior Center.
