Obituary

On Monday, August 11th, 2025, Barbara (Willuweit) Stott passed away unexpectedly in her home at the age of 72. Barbara was born on October 6, 1952, Gregory, SD. She was the 15th of 16 children born to Julius and Leah (Stroh) Willuweit. After the death of her mother, Barbara's sister, Alene and her husband, Kenny Rang, who were newlyweds, took the youngest children, Linda, Barbara, Don, Marva and Dennis and raised them along with the 4 children they eventually had.

Barbara met William (Bill) R. Stott, in Rapid City, through a friend. Barbara and Bill discovered that both loved the jitterbug and a romance was born. After some time, Barbara moved to Deadwood with her brother, Don and sister, Linda. When she first moved to Deadwood, she was working at the St. Joseph Nursing Home in Deadwood.

Barbara and Bill married on November 8, 1974. After their marriage, Barbara worked at the Northwestern Bell Telephone Company in Deadwood. When that company closed, Barbara and Bill started a family with Brent being born November 13, 1978, and Bryce being born on August 11, 1980. She became a stay-at-home mom. As her boys grew, she was always at their games cheering them on, and making scrap books of their awards, honor roll notices and pictures. Her sons meant the world to her. She was their greatest supporter. After her sons were grown, she worked at Burger King in Deadwood, then Lead. After working at Subway in Lead, she retired. Barbara was friendly and made many friends and acquaintances during her years in Deadwood and Lead. Barbara was grateful for her friend and former boss, Donna, who was taking her to her appointments in Spearfish and Rapid City recently.

Barbara loved her bowling league friends and enjoyed her bowling nights out. She was an avid knitter, she made all sorts of ornaments, slippers, hot pads, etc. She was also a stamper and very artistic. She made beautiful cards for all occasions.

Barbara was preceded in death by her husband, Bill, 13 siblings, and several nieces and nephews. She is survived by her two sons, Brent of North Carolina and Bryce of Deadwood, SD; brother, Harley (Delia) Willuweit of Des Moines, Iowa; sister, Verdeen Davis of Rapid City, SD; sister and brother-in-laws, Ruby Douglas of Pierre, SD, Mary (Lou) Leahy of Spearfish, SD, Delores (Ron) Holso of Belle Fourche, SD; and many nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews.
