Barbara A. Niemi, 52, of Spearfish, SD went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, March 21, 2017 at her home.

Barb was born in Spirit Lake, IA on February 20, 1965 to Tom and Judy Woodworth, and they moved to the Black Hills when she was six months old. She grew up in the Spearfish Canyon/Savoy area, and attended school in Spearfish where she graduated in 1983. Barb married Marc Niemi in Lead, SD on September 17, 1983, under this union two children were born – Amanda and Tom.

Barb started out working at the family business, the Latchstring Inn in Spearfish Canyon. Recently she spent her days as a member of Our Saviors Lutheran Church where she was very active as the Audio/Visual Director. She loved her family more than anything and when not at the church she spent the days helping her daughter with her daycare where she was known as "Grandma Barb." Grandma Barb also took great pride in being able to take her granddaughters to school and spending every morning with them. Barb loved the outdoors, cruising down the back roads in her jeep, camping, her dogs, and she had an avid love for horses.

She is survived by her husband, Marc; daughter, Amanda (Derek) Hayford; son, Tom Niemi; granddaughters, Alexis Hayford, Kenadi Hayford, and Presleigh Hayford, all of Spearfish; mother, Judy Woodworth of Lead, SD; sister, Valerie (Wayne) Ryan of Spearfish; brother, Richard Woodworth of Rapid City, SD; and several nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her grandparents, her father, Tom Woodworth and step-father, Philip Martin.

Memorial services will be at 10:00 AM on Saturday, March 25, 2017 at Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Spearfish. A memorial has been established.
