Barbara (Barb) Irene 'Brinkman' Boyer, age 70, of Lead, SD, went to rest with the Lord on Tuesday, April 16, 2019 at the Rapid City Hospice House.
Barb was born June 16, 1948 in Lake Lenden, Michigan to Joe and Myrtle Brinkman. She moved with her family to Lead, SD when her father took a job at Homestake Gold Mine. Barb attended school in Lead, SD. She was the first woman to work underground at Homestake Gold Mine, where she was employed for 16 years. Barb was also passionate about providing care to the elderly, she was a CNA at Spearfish Regional Hospital and Golden Ridge Assisted Living.
Barb lived her life to the fullest making everything as much fun as she could. She was an avid bowler and enjoyed many bowling state tournaments. Barb loved to spend time outdoors camping and fishing. She is the mother of 4 boys and 1 step daughter, she enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren. Barb spent hours playing cards with her friends. She was an avid Denver Broncos fan.
Barb is survived by her brothers, Alfred Brinkman and Joe (Kathy) Brinkman; her four sons and step-daughter: Dennis (Sandi) Cass, Newell (Lore) Cass, Brian (Ann) Cass, Jim (Jonette) Richards and Hope (Will) Blinco; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Barb is preceded in death by her parents, Myrtle and Joe Brinkman; brothers, Mike Brinkman and Patrick Brinkman and grandson, Shane Cass.
Memorial services will be at 1:00PM on Thursday, April 18, 2019 at Fidler-Isburg Funeral Chapel in Spearfish. Follow the service gathering at Deadwood VFW, 10 Pine St, Deadwood, SD 57732.
