Obituary

The Good Lord has in his care a golden-hearted son, father, brother, nephew, cousin and lifelong friend. Ashley Dylan Sutton, 26 of Spearfish, was called to Heaven on Saturday, March 19, 2016. A time of new beginnings is now upon God's Kingdom.

Ever fearless, the confines of Ashley's first home in Aberdeen, his birthplace, weren't enough to keep him from exploring – and giving his mom quite a scare in the process. At the age of 18 months, Ashley decided to see what the rest of Aberdeen looked like, and figured a way – like only Ashley could – to go on walkabout in the busiest part of town. His mom followed his footprints through the snow, and found him shortly thereafter as he played in a sandbox across 6th Avenue. This set the stage for his exciting life.

As a youngster, Ashley loved spending time on the farms of his Grandpa Charlie and Grandma Dianna near Newell and Grandpa Chuck and Grandma Shari near Ortonville, MN, whether it was plinking, riding ATVs, driving the tractor, or doing chores. He learned trades and a hardworking mindset that would serve him well throughout his life.

Ashley had a heart bigger than life itself. Always putting his friends and family before himself, his generosity knew no bounds. His daughter Jaela was his ray of light, and his reason for being, and his spirit lives on through her, and in all of those that have been privileged to know Ashley.

The Lord in Heaven is with Ashley in life as in death. The Lord tells us that even though we walk through the valley of the shadow of death, we should fear no evil, as we are with Him. Ashley's death was tragic, but as child of God he did not fear it. Ashley was not one to back down from any fear or challenge. He is now away from his body but home with the Lord, and Ashley would want us to live our lives with his heart of gold as part of our own hearts.

Ashley is survived by his daughter, Jaela Nicole; brother, Parker; parents, Daphne Loup and Lee Harstad; and Kenneth and Tammy Sutton; grandmother, Dianna Loup; grandparents, Chuck and Shari Lindquist and Bill and Sharon Sutton; numerous uncles, aunts, cousins. Ashley is preceded in death by his grandpa, Frank "Charlie" Loup; aunt, Kathy Wiseman, and too many friends called to Heaven before him.

Memorial Services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, March 25, 2016 at Newell Evangelical Church. A celebration of life will take place at 3 p.m. at the Branding Iron in Belle Fourche. In lieu of flowers, an Ashley Sutton Memorial fund has been set up at Pioneer Bank and Trust.
