Arvid
Eldeen, Jr.
Aug 24, 1949 — Aug 29, 2026
Spearfish, SD
Arvid “Junior” John Eldeen, born August 24, 1949, passed away on August 29, 2026, at the age of 77.
Junior was the son of Arvid Eldeen and Mildred Berg. He worked for Homestake Mine for 29 years before spending 18 years driving cross-country as an over-the-road truck driver.
Junior found happiness in spending time with family and friends, telling stories, joking around, and pulling a good prank. His door was always open, and he was always willing to lend a helping hand. He treasured the memories made and stories shared along the way.
Junior enjoyed hunting, fishing, golfing, bowling, making sausage, and taking long walks with his dogs. He was a talented bowler who celebrated many championship wins. If there was one thing that truly held a special place in Junior’s heart, it was dogs. He loved them all. His beloved dogs were family, companions, and a constant source of joy.
For two years, Junior courageously battled terminal pancreatic cancer, enduring 53 rounds of chemotherapy with strength and determination.
Junior was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Ellene, who passed away three months earlier, and his son, Kenny.
He is survived by his daughter, Laura (Doug); his sisters, Marie Haux and Mavis Cox; his grandchildren, Travis (Paris), Kayla (Tim), Alex, and Tessa; eight great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends whom he considered family.
Junior leaves behind cherished memories of his funny stories, jokes and pranks, good food, family gatherings, fishing and hunting trips, and countless walks with the dogs he loved. He was blessed to be surrounded by family and friends who cared deeply for him, especially during his final years. They visited him, spent time with him, and even brought their dogs over to keep him company—which meant so much to Junior.
