Ardyth L. Thoresen, 79 years of age of Blacktail, South Dakota, passed away unexpectedly at her home on Sunday, June 26, 2010.
Public graveside service will be at 11:00 A.M. on Tuesday, July 6, 2010 at Oakridge Cemetery in Deadwood, SD. A reception will follow the burial at the VFW in Deadwood.
Ardy was born May 27, 1931 in Pilger, Nebraska to William E. Cornett and Dorothy L. (Gray) Cornett. She grew up in Lead with her three sisters Lavonaea Silvernail, Ayleene Lonhiem, and Leatrice Burrington. She married George Thomas (Tom) Thoresen with whom she had three daughters LuAnn Lane, LeAnn Johns, and Robin Thoresen. Ardy spent her life in the Lead-Central City-Deadwood area where she is remembered for the time spent in employment at the Homestake Personnel Office, as director of the Deadwood Chamber of Commerce, and as a clerk with the local MDU offices as well as her involvement in various civic organizations.
Ardy is survived by her daughter, LeAnn, her son-in-law, Timothy, her grandsons, Nicholas and Justin Johns, and her sorority sisters of Beta Sigma Phi.
