Obituary

Anthony "Dezi" DeSimone II, 64, of Lead, SD passed away unexpectedly on March 12th, 2017 in Las Vegas, Nevada. He was born on July 16, 1952 to Anthony and Margaret (Ransom) DeSimone. He graduated from Mannhiem American High School in Mannhiem Germany in 1970. He loyally served our country as an active service member from 1971 to 1979.

While stationed at Ellsworth Air Force base, he met and married the love of his life. He married Jacalyn Kullnat on August 17, 1973 in Rapid City, South Dakota. The two traveled across the country and across seas while he was an active member of the military. They made many friends and fond memories while stationed at the 5th Stormo, Rimini, Italy. The couple made Lead, South Dakota their home where he worked at Homestake Gold Mine from 1979 to 1997. He became an over the road truck driver in 1997, driving over 2 million miles across the 48 continental states.

He was a member of Black Hills ABATE, and spent his free time on the back of his Harley as much as he could. You could always find him flipping pancakes on the 4th of July with his involvement of the Black Hills Rod and Gun Club. Many knew Dezi by his bright tie-dye t-shirts and his many tattoos. He was special to not only his family but the friends he made while driving across the country and his many friends here at home. He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Jacalyn DeSimone, daughters; Chandra (Joseph) Kiley, Spearfish, SD; Erica (Brian) Engelmann, Sioux Falls, SD; and DeSiree (Theodore) Rewitzer, Spearfish, SD; grandchildren Elizabeth and Emily Kiley, and Parker and Addilyn Rewitzer, siblings Ransom Kalin, Willis, Texas; and Patti (DeSimone) Taylor, Richmond, VA; as well as many other special friends and family.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Anthony DeSimone and Margaret DeSimone; his sister, Sabina DeSimone and uncles, Alfonso DeSimone, whom he had spent many years with as a child, and Erhard Muller.

A Memorial Service will be held on Thursday, April 13, 2017, at 10:00am at the Lead-Deadwood Memorial Chapel in Lead, SD. Inurnment with full military Honors will be at 2:00 pm, at Black Hills National Cemetery near Sturgis, SD.
