Anita K. Gebauer, 71 of Spearfish, SD died Sunday, March 13, 2016 at Rapid City Regional Hospital.

Memorial services will be held at 2:00pm, Thursday, March 17, 2016 at Black Hills Gospel Assembly in Belle Fourche, SD.

Anita was born March 31, 1944 to Warren E. and Hazel (Erickson) Johnson in Spearfish. She was raised and attended school in Spearfish, graduating from Spearfish High School in 1962. Anita then attended Black Hills State Teachers College, graduating with a teachers degree. She taught school in Rawlins and Pinedale Wyoming for many years. She returned to South Dakota and married Merlin Gebauer. Anita and Merlin owned and operated High Plains Genetics in Piedmont, SD retiring in 2010. Following retirement the couple moved to Spearfish, where they lived in Anita's childhood home. Anita was very outgoing; she enjoyed visiting with family and friends. She also enjoyed tending to the flower gardens around her home.

She is survived by her husband, Merlin Gebauer of Spearfish, two step-sons, Bradley and Brett Gebauer of Dallas, TX, siblings; Warren J. (Sigrid) Johnson of Calgary, Alberta, Canada, Pete Johnson of Spearfish, Jim (Joan) Johnson of Spearfish, Gene "Johnny" Johnson of Belle Fourche, Marilyn (John) Johnson of Piedmont and Clint (Mindy) Johnson of Canyon, TX and many nieces and nephews.
Anita was preceded in death by her parents and one brother Steve Johnson.
