Alvin Richard Tatge, aerial coyote hunter for over 42 years in the tri-state area, passed away at his Alzada, MT home on Sunday, March 11, 2012. He died as he'd lived his life--on his own terms.
At Alvin's request, no funeral was held and no obituary written. However, his children and their families are collecting first-hand accounts of interactions with Alvin since he first landed in the area in 1946, and urge all who knew him to share their memories.
To celebrate his life and accomplishments, his family will host a BBQ, potluck, and story exchange at the Alzada Community Hall on the evening of June 29th. It would have been his 91st birthday. Our hope is to collect as many stories as possible in advance of the event so they can be printed out and shared that night.
Anyone wishing to share stories or contribute to a flight school scholarship established in Alvin's name may send them to PO Box 41, Alzada, MT 59311-- a temporary box rented through mid-June. Alternately, please contact Jim Tatge at (605) 578-1334 or trjultralite@yahoo.com, or Pam Tatge Lucas at (208) 899-6380 or ptatgelucas@cableone.net. Details will follow, around mid-June.
