Alvin Hagen, 71 of Spearfish, passed away on Sunday, April 14, 2013 at the David M. Dorsett Health Care Center in Spearfish.

Alvin "Al" Oscar Hagen was born October 14, 1941 in Kidder County, ND, the son of Oscar and Louise (Dewald) Hagen. He was raised and attended school in Medina, ND. He struggled in his early year due to alcoholism. In 1976, he turned his life around when he met the love of his life Darlene Joy (Renner) Eisenbraun and accepted Jesus Christ into his life.

Al later worked for Safeway Corporation, Midwest Trucking and H-S Precision as a custom gun machinist. His proudest moments include being named Employee of the Year at H-S Precision, earning his GED in 1994, receiving a full pardon from the Governor of ND and being featured on the 700 Club recognizing his personal transformation.

Al enjoyed traveling with his wife, raising his prized Pomeranian dogs and singing and playing his guitar. Family and friends will remember him for his kindness, faith, love of family and animals and dedication to his wife. Alvin was caretaker and constant companion for Darlene after her catastrophic stroke.

He is survived by children, Chivon Hagen of ND, Chaylynn (Chad) Klein, Bismark, ND, and Ward Hagen of Bismark, ND; 5 grandchildren; sisters, Betty (Don) Eckart, Mary Jacobs and Pat (Tom) Vice; step-children Shawn (Ray) Holt, Phoenix, AZ, Michelle Red Earth, Sioux Falls, SD and David (Scott Helberg) Eisenbraun, Albuquerque, NM; 2 step-grandchildren and 3 step-great grandchildren.
He is Preceded in death by his wife Darlene; parents Oscar and Louise; brother, Andrew and sister, Margaret; step-grandson, Matthew.

Memorial service will be held at a later date.
