Obituary

Alice Hobler Turbiville, age 89, died peacefully on December 14 at the Hospice of the Hills in Rapid City after a short illness.

Visitation will be from 4-6 P.M. on Sunday, December 19, 2010 at Fidler-Isburg Funeral Chapel. Funeral Sevices will be at 11:00 A.M. on Monday, December 20, 2010 at Our Savior's Lutheran Church. In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established to Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Spearfish.

Alice was born in Bosque County, Texas to Lawrence and Emma (Olsen) Orbeck on January 25, 1921. Alice was a loving wife to Alfred (Fred) Hobler for 42 years and a loving wife to Albert Turbiville for 16 years.

Alice was a registered nurse whose values guided her throughout her complete life, not just on the job. Many Rapid Citians may remember her as the "go to" school nurse.

She was a founding member of South Canyon Lutheran Church and a twenty year member of Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Spearfish.

After retiring from nursing, she and Fred enjoyed a "traveling retirement". They journeyed between South Dakota and Arizona supporting U-Haul along the way. She also enjoyed a peaceful retirement in Spearfish with her second husband, Albert.

Her favorite activities were good food, catalogue shopping, singing, traveling, rose gardening and church activities.

She is survived by two children, David Hobler and Michael Hobler, and two step-children, Susan Bassett and Paul Turbiville and six grandchildren, Gene, Sarah, Becky, Allison, Adam and Audrey, and 5 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by both husbands, her brother, Lawrence Emmett, an infant brother and her parents. She will be missed and remembered lovingly.
