Obituary
Alice Louise (Garman) Mills, age 74, of the Carlile-area, passed away after a long battle with heart disease on August 23, 2012 at Rapid City Regional Hospital.
She was born in Phoenix, Arizona on July 15, 1938 to Newell A. and Frances L. (Blakeman) Garman. The family moved back to the Carlile homestead when Alice was 6 months old. She went to the country school on Cabin Creek until eighth grade. Alice graduated from Moorcroft High School in 1956.
She married R. Reynard Mills on August 18, 1956. To this marriage was born five sons and three daughters.
She was a busy mom but worked some part-time jobs at the grocery store and Post Office in Sundance in the 1960's. In 1971, she and Reynard with their children moved back to the Mills family ranch at Carlile (River Valley Ranch).
Alice's love for God was demonstrated by her servant attitude to not only her family but also her community. She has been a faithful member of the Hulett Assembly of God Church since her teen-age years. The love for her family and friends has been shown in many ways, but most would agree that it was best expressed in the thoughtfulness of a favorite meal prepared or a special batch of cookies baked especially for those she knew would be touched by it. She is especially remembered for the special desserts; cookies, pies, cakes, and sweet breads. She volunteered for years to prepare many of these special treats for meetings, most church events, and holidays.
Alice is survived by her husband of 56 years, Reynard Mills, and children, Steve & Ronda of Duvall, WA, Gary & Gail Mills of Powell WY, Karen & Jim Hutchinson of Newcastle, WY, Debbie & Troy Harrington of Hammond, MT, Patricia & David Flowerdew of Cheney WA, Doug & Dena Mills of Hulett WY, Justin & Myla Mills of Billings, MT, and Brian & Heidi Mills of Sundance, WY; 13 grandsons and 13 granddaughters; a sister, Martha (Carl) Reimer of Gillette, WY, a brother, John (Eileen) Garman of Alzada, MT. She is preceded in death by her parents, and two brothers, Harry Lee and Neal Garman.
Visitation will be from 5-7 P.M., Monday, August 27, 2012 at Fidler-Roberts & Isburg Funeral Chapel in Sundance, WY.
Burial will be at the Moorcroft Cemetery at 9:00 am on Tuesday, August 28, 2012 with a Memorial Celebration to follow at the Greater Hulett Community Center at 11:00 am in Hulett, WY.
In lieu of flowers a memorial has been established to benefit The Gideon's International for Bibles and The Mennonite Guest House, in Rochester, MN.
