Alice L. Doud, 85, of Spearfish, SD, died Monday, September 7, 2009 at Spearfish Regional Hospital.

Visitation will be from 5:00p.m. until 7:00p.m. on Thursday, September 10, 2009 at Fidler-Isburg Funeral Chapel in Spearfish. Funeral services will be at 1:30p.m. on Friday, September 11, 2009 at Fidler-Isburg Funeral Chapel.
Inurnment will take place at a later date at Oak Ridge Cemetery in Deadwood, SD.

A memorial has been established.

Alice was born May 26, 1924 to David and Edith (Groneau) Brown in Sisseton, SD, the oldest of 8 children. She was raised and attended school at Sisseton. While growing up she was a hard worker and worked in the fields with her family. She married James D. Doud on December 7, 1941 in Sisseton where they lived until the early 1950s. They moved to Lead, SD, where they raised their family and later moved to Deadwood. Alice moved to Spearfish after her husband passed away. She was very religious and a faithful Jehovah's Witness for over 45 years. She will be remembered as an excellent mother and homemaker.

Alice was a loving wife and mother to 12 children, 32 grandchildren and 35 great grandchildren. Her surviving children are; Myron Doud of Rapid City, SD, Dale Doud of Sisseton, Tom Doud of Rapid City, Jonell Wickenhagen of Spearfish, Desmond Doud of Wenatchee, WA, Patty Ash of Golden, CO, Jon Doud of Sturgis, SD, Kerry Doud of Lead, SD, and Sally Herren of Thornton, CO. She is also survived by four sisters, Arleen Julius of Sisseton, Elsie Duetsch of Minnesota, Shirley Kroney of Minnesota, and Ardella Kelly of Sisseton, and one brother David Brown Jr. of Sisseton.

Alice was preceded in death by an infant son, Joseph in 1949, a daughter, Mary Ellan in January of 1982, her husband, James Doud in September of 1993, a son, Patrick Dean Doud on May 30, 2009 and two brothers, Daryl Brown and Ralph Brown.
