Obituary

Agnes Orlene (Eisenbeisz) Glatt, age 81, of Spearfish, SD was called to heaven on Tuesday, February 18, 2014.

Visitation will be from 3-5 P.M. on Sunday, February, 23, 2014 at Fidler-Isburg Funeral Chapel in Spearfish. Funeral services will be held on 10:00 A.M. on Monday, February, 24, 2014 at Our Savior's Lutheran Church, Spearfish. Burial will follow at Black Hills National Cemetery near Sturgis. A memorial has been established to benefit Hospice of the Northern Hills.

Agnes was born to Christ & Lydia (Fischer) Eisenbeisz on December 25, 1932 in Athboy, SD. The youngest of 9 children, she grew up on a farm in the Athboy area and graduated High School in Mobridge, SD in 1950. In 1952, Agnes moved to Rapid City to attend beauty school and shortly after returned to Mobridge to work with her sister, Lillian, in a small hair salon-a passion she would pursue for nearly 50 years!

Agnes was united in marriage to Francis "Fritz" Glatt on September 7, 1958 in Trail City, SD. The couple moved frequently due to Fritz's career with the Farmer's Home Administration. After living in various locations including Brookings, Atlanta, GA, Washburn, Chamberlain and McIntosh over the years, Agnes and family finally settled in Selby, SD in 1978. Establishing roots in Selby, Agnes owned and operated her very own hair salon, "Ag's Cut 'n Curl", out of the basement of their home.

Shortly following Fritz's passing, Agnes moved one final time to Spearfish in 1989, where she resided for the remainder of her life. She retired from Castlewood Salon in Spearfish in 2001. After retiring, Agnes filled her days actively involved in Our Saviors Lutheran Church and the Senior Center, as well as volunteered her time at the David M Dorsett Healthcare Center.

Agnes filled any free time she had by playing cards (particularly Bridge), bowling, dancing, golfing, doing crossword puzzles, enjoying her grandchildren and visiting loved ones. She appreciated her morning walks with neighbors and was always going non-stop, everyday. Anyone who knew Agnes knew how much energy she could bring to a room. Her beautiful sense of humor and bold independence provided the delightful character so many cherished. She enjoyed life and everything in it- she gave generously of her time and love to everyone she knew.

Agnes is survived by her children, Scott (Vicky) Glatt, Whitewood, Kris (Ed) Mitchell, Selby; grandchildren, Bryan (Kyla) Glatt, Sioux Falls, Holly Glatt, Spearfish, Michele Glatt, Sioux Falls; great-grandchild, Carter Glatt; siblings, Martha O'Donell, Spearfish; Clarence Eisenbeisz, Spearfish; Florence Arehart, Spearfish; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Francis; her parents, five sisters and a brother.

A special thank you to Rita Pressler and the Hospice team, the nurses at Edgewood Vista and her neighbors on Washington Street for their gracious love and exceptional care during Agnes' final days.

Arrangements are under the care of Fidler-Isburg Funeral Chapels and Crematory Service of Spearfish.
