IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Agnes
Corkins
April 26, 1930 – July 13, 2023
Agnes Corkins, 93, of Spearfish, SD passed away in her home on July 13, 2023. She was born April 26, 1930, to Frank Jungwirth and Alma (Pittman) Jungwirth of Zell, SD, the youngest of eight children. She was lovingly cared for by her devoted daughter, Carol, for many, many years, which allowed Agnes to remain in her home (as was her wish).
After graduating from high school, Agnes attended cosmetology school and was generous with her time and talent by giving haircuts and perms to family and friends. She was a great cook and a gifted baker and always made more than enough to share.
Agnes loved dancing (jitterbug), playing cards (canasta, pinochle) and bridge with her many close friends. She was happiest pulling the handle on the slot machines in Deadwood and had her picture taken with numerous oversized "winners" checks over the years. She was an "Avon calling" sales rep during the 1960's and enjoyed sharing new lipstick colors, perfumes, and fashion trends with family and friends.
Agnes was a devoted parishioner of St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Lead (where her two daughters attended parochial school) and St. Joseph's parish in Spearfish. She was faithful and generous in tithing to both parishes.
Agnes' husband, Marlyn, preceded her in death, including all of her siblings. She is survived by her two daughters, Carol Ledyard and Connie Hamilton, her son-in-law, Ed Ledyard, her two grandchildren, Erin and Devon, two great-grandchildren, Zack and Quinn, sister-in-law, Crystal Jungwirth, and many nieces and nephews.
Agnes lived a full and happy life in the Black Hills, which she shared with her husband, Marlyn, of 55 years. One of her favorite memories is when they sang "You are my Sunshine" to each other every day. Agnes had a strong faith and is now in heaven. She was ready to leave this earth and be reunited with her beloved husband. She will join him with interment at Black Hills National Cemetery. Out of respect for her wishes, no services will be held. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
Mom, take a deep breath; you're home!
