Peter Anthony Farrier

Peter Anthony Farrier, 63, died Wednesday, April 8, 2009 at his home in Moorcroft, WY, after a long illness. Visitation will be from 8:00a.m. until 10:00a.m. on Wednesday, April 15, 2009 at First Southern Baptist Church in Moorcroft. Funeral services will begin at 10:00a.m., with Pastor Tom Farrier officiating and burial will follow at Moorcroft Cemetery. Memorials will be given to the Moorcroft Library and Treasured Memories Hospice. Peter was born January 14, 1946 in Dayton, OH, the seventh of ten children to Robert O. and Alice (Teigler) Farrier. Peter grew up in Dayton and attended Northmont High School, graduating in 1965. He was inducted into the United States Army at Fort Dix, New Jersey on July 30th 1966, doing his tour of duty in France and Germany where he built a lasting love for the people and cultures of Europe. He had a passion for history and loved to indulge in it by visiting any museum he could. On returning from Europe, he worked at GHR Foundry, a division of Dayton Malleable Iron. There he began his training as an electrician. He married Maureen Daisey on January 5, 1974 in Dayton. He worked at Dayton Malleable Iron until 1980, when he moved with his wife and daughter to Moorcroft, WY, and spent the remainder of his life there working and advancing in his chosen profession. Family and friends were very important to Pete. He was always willing to lend a helping hand when it was needed. He also believed that no one should be alone and made sure everyone was invited to his house at the holidays. He is survived by his wife of 35 years, Maureen of Moorcroft; daughters, Dawn Valdez and her husband Paulo of Phoenix, AZ, Debra Taylor of Dayton, and Kristan Anderson and her husband Ian of Elizabeth, CO, eight grandchildren: Robert Valdez, Jefferson Valdez, Paulo Valdez, Max Valdez, Amber Taylor, Christopher Anderson, Kieran Anderson and Cierra Anderson and a great granddaughter Carmen Taylor. He is also survived by four brothers, Robert O. (Alverna) Farrier and Thomas (Suzanne) Farrier, John (Sharon) Farrier, and Paul (Roxanne) Farrier all of Dayton, three sisters, June (Roger) Larson of Groveland, FL, Sandra Alcoke of Dayton, and Valerie (Carroll) Bryant of Hawkins, TX, and brother-in-law Roger Kelsey of West Virginia, along with numerous nieces and nephews and grand nieces and grand nephews. Pete was preceded in death by his parents, an infant sister Paula and sister Alice Kelsey. Arrangements are under the care of Fidler-Roberts & Isburg Funeral Chapel of Sundance, WY.
