Kathy was born June 15, 1951 in Grand Junction, Colorado to the late Page and Edith Townley. She graduated from Rapid City High School in 1969, where she was an active member of the Cobbler Co-Eds. Kathy managed Good Earth until 2005, providing personal nutritional help to many people over the years. Her natural warmth and compassion turned Good Earth into more than just a business, fostering a strong community where Kathy forged many friendships.

She was also an active community member, involved in several organizations including the Black Hills Swim Team and the Downtown Business Association.
Kathy is survived by her husband, Ed Dykstra and their two children, Clay (Anna) Dykstra and Page Dykstra, all of Spearfish. She is also survived by her brother, Jud Townley of Rapid City and sister, Kim Townley of Lexington, KY.
