Clyde Burrows, 86, died December 31, 2011, at his home in Spearfish, SD.
Visitation will be from 3:00-6:00 P.M., Tuesday, January 3, 2012. Services will be 11:00 A.M., Wednesday, January 4, 2012 at Fidler-Isburg Funeral Chapel, Spearfish, SD. Burial will be at Black Hills National Cemetery near Sturgis, SD. A memorial has been established and condolences may be sent to 122 State Street, Lot 32, Spearfish, SD.
Clyde was born September 20, 1925 to James and Myrtle (Bell) Burrows in Highmore, SD. He entered the Navy in 1942 during WWII. Upon discharge from the Navy, he worked various jobs, including farming, bridge construction, for the SD State Highway Department, road construction and at the meat packing plant in Huron. He married Helen Irene Hirsch on September 14, 1959. They moved to the Black Hills area in 1959, when he received employment at the Homestake Mining Company as truck driver, retiring in 1984, after 25 years. He did work 6 years underground.
Clyde was a member of the VFW, American Legion and the United Methodist Church.
Clyde is survived by his children; Mel Edelman, Spearfish, SD; Sharon Long, Spearfish, SD; Jim Edelman, Billings, MT; Marilyn Luscombe, St. Onge, SD; Darlene Robertson, Gillette, WY; Peggy Lamb, Spearfish, SD; and Kenny Burrows, Lead, SD; blessed with 35 grandchildren and many great-grandchildren; and his brothers; Marvin Burrows, Highmore, SD and John Burrows, Pierre, SD. He was preceded in death by his wife, Helen Irene, who died June 24, 1994; his son, Everette; his daughter, Bonnie; his parents; sister, Arlene Warner; and brother, Charles Burrows.
